What happens if I fail to pay?

Maybe you haven’t been able to pay your premium or healthcare costs. You will receive a reminder that you can use to pay. To avoid falling behind on payments, try not to let bills pile up. We would be happy to help you if you need it.

You’ll be charged extra if you don’t pay a reminder on time

You will receive up to 3 reminders. Each reminder will ask you to pay within 15 days. If you pay the 1st reminder on time, you have nothing to worry about. If you don’t pay on time, you will have to pay an extra €20. To avoid falling behind on payments, try not to let bills pile up.

Do you have a reminder for premium and healthcare costs?

Pay your premium first, if you can. Being late with your premium can have serious consequences.

Check the consequences of not paying:

You will receive a 1st reminder 11 days after the bill is due

  • If you pay on time, you have nothing to worry about.
  • If you don’t pay on time, you will have to pay an extra €20.

You will receive a 2nd reminder 21 days after the bill is due

  • This includes the extra €20 for failing to pay the 1st reminder.
  • Your discount will be cancelled if you pay (bi-)annually, as you will pay per month from now on. Your discount will not be cancelled if you’ve already paid the first 6 months.

You will receive a 3rd reminder 35 days after the bill is due

  • If you don’t pay on time, we will contact a debt collector or a bailiff.
  • Do you have supplementary insurance (including dental insurance)? We will stop this, also for any co-insured family members. From 1 January, you will be able to reapply for supplementary insurance.
  • You are not allowed to change healthcare insurers even if you haven’t paid the collection costs and interest. This is bound by law. Healthcare insurers exchange information if you are behind on payments.
  • We will register you with the CAK if you have outstanding premium debts up to a least 6 months. Learn more on overdue payments.
